Designing a modern classic
Since the 1970s, the name Muurikka has been synonymous with griddle pan in Finland.
Re-designing a classic is not a task to be approached lightly. We joined Muurikka with great enthusiasm and respect to design their new outdoor kitchen system. The result is a smart, user-friendly and fun line of outdoor cooking sets. One that bows deep to the original while respectfully reinventing it.
Practical & timeless
Muurikka’s griddles are known to last for generations. We wanted the new designs to continue the legacy of practicality, innovativeness, sustainability, and timelessness. The new products, with their extensive range of accessories, set a new standard for enjoyable outdoor cooking.
A full product range
We designed the outdoor cooking sets in various sizes, perfect for both small and large patios, or even for taking on outings. Each set includes a hot-rolled steel griddle, an enamel-coated gas burner, a sturdy metal stand with a wind shield, and a practical storage shelf. We also designed lids and shelves for additional utility.
Human-driven design
Logistics & assembly
The shape of the bowl, the fixings of the legs, and the overall structure were designed for ease of assembly by the end user, as well as for a sturdy end result. Moreover, the parts were designed for compactness of packaging, resulting in efficient, ecological and economical logistics.
D for Distinctive
From the very beginning of the project, the D shape was selected for the legs. Not only does it provide excellent sturdiness for the product, it also works as a distinctive and functional design identifier. We introduced the same shape into the burner adjustment knobs as well as the handles of the spatulas and other accessories.
