Red Dot Award for Muurikka: Honouring a Finnish classic with fresh design

We’re proud to share that the renewed Muurikka outdoor cooking set—designed by our team at Edea Design—has been awarded the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2025. The recognition highlights a project that reimagines one of Finland’s most iconic outdoor products while staying true to its roots.

For decades, Muurikka has meant more than just outdoor cooking gear. It’s a symbol of gathering around the fire, cooking together in nature, and enjoying simple, good moments. Our shared goal was to modernise this beloved product family with clarity, care, and long-term relevance—both for the brand and for future users.

 

 

Designing with respect—for people, for culture, for the future

From the start, our work focused on improving usability and modularity without losing the emotional connection people have with the Muurikka name. Together with Muurikka’s team, we developed a design language that feels robust, timeless, and recognisably Nordic. The renewed product line simplifies the experience from start to finish: easier to use, easier to pack, and easier to love.

What’s less visible—but just as important—is the attention to detail behind the scenes. The new design also improves manufacturability, logistics, and long-term brand coherence across Muurikka’s product ecosystem.

As Tobias Avaheden, Head of Product at Muurikka, puts it: “Outdoor cooking is more relevant than ever, and our new griddle sets combine sleek design with practical features.
